The third session of the second run of the Asia in My Pocket featured the developed country of Singapore.  It was held last February 23, 2011 at the picturesque facilities of the Embassy of Singapore in Taguig City.  The Singapore experience has been complimented and augmented by an appetizing display of Singaporean dishes in a buffet table, which later on served as the guest’s dinner. The event was attended by almost forty (40) people, who are comprised mainly by business professionals, as well as His Excellency Ambassador A. Selverajah.

Last February 8, Asia Society in partnership with Rustan Coffee Corporation hosted a talk featuring former President of Starbucks International, Mr. Howard Behar, who spoke to 250 business professionals and students at the AIM Conference Center. He discussed the leadership and business principles featured in his book, “It’s Not About the Coffee” and how it led to the global success of Starbucks.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Albert Del Rosario, visted Iraq on January 29 to meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Hoshyar Zebari, in order to look into the state of the Filipinos in the country. Recently, there had been reports of increasing violence (i.e., bombings) in Baghdad, capital of Iraq, after the withdrawal of the US forces in the country last 18 December 2011.
