U.S.-Pakistan Partnership in Combating Terrorism

Ambassador Haqqani will provide his perspectives on the US-Pakistan partnership in combating terrorism activities in the region, as well as on issues affecting regional peace, stability, and security. This event will also provide an exclusive opportunity to hear first-hand about the current economic and political developments in Pakistan.
His Excellency Husain Haqqani was sworn in as Pakistan Ambassador to the United States in April 2008. Ambassador Haqqani has had a wide range of experience as a journalist, professor, diplomat, and advisor to three Pakistani Prime Ministers. He was Pakistan's Ambassador to Sri Lanka in 1992-1993, among the youngest diplomats to serve as Pakistan's Ambassador abroad. During the period, he was closely involved in evolving the role of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Ambassador Haqqani graduated from the University of Karachi in 1977, and received a master's degree in international relations with distinction in 1980 from the same university. He has written numerous books, opinion editorials and articles for national and international major publications. His book Pakistan Between Mosque and Military (2005) was highly acclaimed by many prestigious organizations.
