Sustainable Cities: Frameworks for Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure, and Finance with John Macomber
VIEW EVENT DETAILSAs population grows in cities in India and around the world, issues of infrastructure will at the forefront of debates on urbanization. John Macomber will address how private investment and property development can play a pivotal role in creating long term solutions for cities that are both efficient and equitable. He will also address how both hard and soft infrastructure can combat issues of resource scarcity. Finally, he will explore how these tactics can be implemented by large companies, entrepreneurs, and NGOs to ensure sustainable growth.
John Macomber is a Lecturer in Real Estate at Harvard Business School. His professional background includes leadership of real estate, construction, services, and technology businesses. He is the former Chairman and CEO of the George B.H. Macomber Company, a large regional general contractor. He is a principal in several real estate partnerships in Massachusetts. Prior to coming to HBS, John was a lecturer at MIT in Civil Engineering and Real Estate. He is chair or co-chair of Executive Education programs including "Real Estate Management," "Real Estate Executive Seminar," and "Develop India: Real Estate Strategies for Growth." In the community, Macomber is active with Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and Mount Auburn Hospital. He serves on the boards of Boston Private Bank and Vela Systems.
Sanjay G. Ubale, a distinguished IAS Officer with over 20 years of experience, has recently been appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited. He has a B.Sc from Mumbai University, a Masters in marketing management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, and development studies from the University of Bath. He has held many key positions including Managing Director of Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation, Collector and District Magistrate in Sangli district of Maharashtra, and Project Director of the World Bank and DFID assisted Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Projects.
