Vishakha Desai is the sixth President and CEO of Asia Society. She is a frequent speaker at national and international forums on a wide variety of subjects that include US-Asia relationships, cultural roots of Asian economic development, regional connections within the Asia Pacific region, as well as the arts and cultures of Asia and Asian America.
Robert Oxnam is a China scholar and former President of Asia Society. Oxnam has contributed to cross-cultural understanding in myriad ways, including as a tenured professor of Japanese and Chinese History at Trinity College, and founder of the China Council at the Asia Society. He also accompanied former US President George H. W. Bush as an on-the-ground adviser on a goodwill trip to China in the late 1990s.
Ambassador MK Rasgotra has served as the Convenor of the National Security Advisory Board of the Indian Prime Minister's Office, Indian Foreign Secretary, High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador to France, the Netherlands and Nepal, and Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington DC. He is also President of the Observer Research Foundation Centre for International Relations. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan award in 2002.
Jim Yardley is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, who currently serves as New Delhi Bureau Chief of the New York Times. He has also been a correspondent in the Beijing Bureau of the New York Times, and has traveled throughout China and written on a wide range of topics, including social unrest and rising inequality.
