Since her husband's election as President in May 2009, the Soviet- and US-educated first lady has notably launched a number of major national initiatives. A mother of five, Bolormaa and her husband are also foster parents to some two dozen Mongolian orphans. In 2007 she was able to translate into reality her long cherished dream to help underprivileged Mongolian children by establishing the "Bolor" charity fund, which exists to offer mentally, physically, and financially challenged children the very care they were deprived by misfortune.
