Spiced Cauliflower, Indian Style
Ingredients
half a medium cauliflower
3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon brown mustard seeds
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 teaspoons finely grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Directions
Wash cauliflower and separate into florets. Cut florets into thick slices, making sure each slice has some of the stem attached. Heat oil in a wok or deep pan and fry the mustard seeds until they pop. Add garlic and ginger and fry, stirring, until pale golden and fragrant. Add turmeric and salt and the cauliflower slices, stirring to mix well. Add water, cover and cook for about 6 minutes or until cauliflower is tender-crisp. Sprinkle garam masala over and serve with rice or chapatis.
