It is with great sadness that Asia Society notes the passing of Chinese painter Wu Guanzhong, a major artistic figure of the twentieth century, who made an enormous contribution to our understanding of art and visual culture. He was 90 years old.

Asia Society Museum Director Melissa Chiu has written a tribute to Wu. Asia Society Online has also posted a slideshow of Wu's work, with audio commentary by Chiu.
