O'Farrell was elected to NSW Parliament in 1995 and now represents the electorate of Ku-ring-gai. After holding key posts, such as Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Transport Minister, O'Farrell was elected unopposed by his Liberal colleagues as NSW Liberal Leader in April 2007.
Relevant to our relations with the Asia Pacific Region, Barry's announcements have included that he intends to:
* Appoint a Parliamentary Secretary for Asia Pacific Trade;
* Lead trade delegations to India and China within six months of assuming office;
* Convene a NSW Export and Investment Advisory Board;
* Create a Multicultural Business Advisory Panel;
* Work with the Australian Government to encourage the Asian Development Bank to expand its Sydney presence.
