Australia and India: The Beginning of a Serious Engagement
MELBOURNE, October 28, 2009 - John McCarthy AO, former Australian High Commissioner to India, presented his views on the future for Australian and India relations at the Asia Foreign Policy luncheon in a joint collaboration with Asialink and Asia Society AustralAsia Center.
Having recently concluding his five-year posting as High Commissioner to India, McCarthy raised important steps towards a stronger binding relationship between Australia and India.
McCarthy has also served as Australia’s Ambassador to Japan (2001-2004), Ambassador to India (1997-2000), Ambassador to the United States (1995-97), Ambassador to Thailand (1992-94), Ambassador to Mexico (1985-87) and Ambassador to Vietnam (1981-83).
