Remembering Wu Guanzhong

Asia Society notes the passing of Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong (1919-2010) with an overview of his 1980s paintings and commentary by Asia Society Museum Director Melissa Chiu.

In recognition of Wu Guanzhong's artistic achievement, Asia Society and the Shanghai Art Museum, with Wu Guanzhong's collaboration, have been planning a substantial retrospective exhibition. We will continue our efforts toward realizing this project, which will be the first major retrospective of his work in New York.

Guangzhong should not be shelved as just another Chinese artist. He definitely belongs in a position of prominence on the global art scene. Much appreciate and applaud Asia Society's efforts to honor him. Nighat Mir Managing Editor Third Text Asia Karachi Pakistan
