Asia Society is thrilled to host award-winning film director and social activist Mira Nair for a special evening and lively discussion with Asia Society President Vishakha N. Desai.

Mira Nair’s feature films include: Salaam Bombay; Mississippi Masala; The Perez Family, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, My Own Country (HBO), Monsoon Wedding, The Namesake and Amelia.

Nair will be speaking about her work, the process of adapting major novels for the screen as she did for Vanity Fair and The Namesake, India's impact on global cinema, the differences of working in documentaries versus feature films and her recent release Amelia.

What would you like to ask Mira Nair? Which of those questions do you want to hear more about?  Join the discussion below.

I greatly admire how you synergize being commercially successful, promoting awareness of social justice issues, and telling culturally-specific, yet universally moving stories about the South Asian diaspora in your work. What advice would you give to young artist-activists beginning their careers?
In your collaboration with Jhumpa Lahiri, could you describe a significant compromise you made at her request and one that she made at yours? P.S. Some of us would be thrilled if you considered adapting a book written for kids or teenagers. Love your work.
